Soon it will be the 45th Anniversary of the loss of the USS Thresher.
Last December a small book was published by Bruce Rule who was the Navy's Acoustic expert and who analyzed the SOSUS records.  Bruce also did the major work on the Scorpion loss.
And yes I lost a friend on the Thresher.

Dave is correct.  37+18 is 55.

I just can't believe it's been 55 years since that tragedy. I remember it as if it was yesterday.

I remember it well. Was in the hospital at NAS, Memphis for some surgery. The CO, Wes Harvey had been my Chief Engineer at S1C when I we put it in commission and the XO, Patty May Garner was my Engineer in Skate. If I hadn't been selected for NESEP I would probably have been aboard. Didn't sleep very well that night.

Just finishing up at S1C.  Wife and I wondering if I made a bad decision. Worked out well. Seven patrols and a yard period on the Ethan Allen.
