Most would be suprised at the number of Northern visitors that think peanuts grow on trees. The Chief was walking thru his ten acre pecan grove, picking and piling down branches. A Lady and her friend stopped along the road and said they admired the way he kept his peanut trees. Chief never corrected them, only smiled and thanked her. God will forgive him for that one.
Walt,
Had I done everything right throughout my life, the World wouldn't have noticed.

You'd be surprised to know how many people believe that maple syrup is made by gathering and crushing maple nuts.

There are a few Maples living down the street from me.  I'm pretty sure they would be distressed to hear about all that nut crushing.

BTW, I lived in Citrus County for 13 years before I moved to the mountains.  How's the weather down there?  Still hot and humid most of the time?

Lived here since retiring in 2003.  Love it.  Sailing, kayaking, boat building, fly fishing -- 12 months year?  What's not to like?  (I grew up in the mountains -- you can have them.  Bring on the heat and humidity, better than the ice and snow of the Catskills.)

Well, considering all the activities you enjoy, Florida is probably the perfect place for you.  I'm not really the outdoors type but I enjoyed FL for the first 10 years.  But, after having moved at least every 3 years my entire adult life (and much more often during the 8 years I was in the Navy) I felt it was time to move on.  Itchy feet and all that.

The weather in the Smoky Mtn's is considerably more temperate than in the Catskills.  And after 20 years, we still enjoy living here.  So, although we have lived here longer than anywhere else, we are not going to move anymore.

I encountered many people from the Northeast and Michigan who sold everything and moved to Florida without preparing themselves and consequently were quite unhappy.  But it sounds like you are doing it right by taking advantage of the amenities Florida has to offer and making the most of living there.  So, I'm glad you enjoy Florida and hope you continue to do so for many years.  Thumbs Up
