One hundred years ago today Gunners Mate First Class R.A.Leese was lost when he went overboard from USS L-10 (SS-50) while it was in transit toward Queenstown, Ireland from the Azores during World War One. Many of our shipmate losses occurred in single events or in small groups not necessarily with the loss of a submarine. Leese is the first of these losses to occur in wartime in a combat zone.
