I have a very strict gun control policy, if there is a gun around I want to be in control of it.

I have Bruce Rule's new book which is similar to the article and he also said no flooding. So the question is what caused the reactor to scram? We will never know. The MCP's were in fast and analysts listening to the SOSUS tapes heard them stop years later. This means the Main Steam Stops closed and propulsion stopped and electrical power was lost. They were below test depth, slow speed, and negatively ballasted with no means to drive themselves upwards. They reported "minor difficulties" somewhere greater that 1300 feet. They attempted a blow but the strainers froze in the blow system. The last communication was "900 North" which means 900 feet below test depth or 2200'. She lasted just seconds and was totally destroyed by water entering at 2000 mph in a period of .047 seconds with instantaneous breakage of the hull into 6 parts.
Bruce made no statements as to why the scram occured. He did mention that records/graphic charts were destroyed 5 years later as that was the procedure. Thankfully the SOSUS records are saved. There are still 18 pages of classified material that has not be released! Who makes these decisions? |
