I think some of the E guys might TAD to other boats during the yard period.

Yes, I believe the Mid silver dolphin controversy was resolved.

The wood is Formica and yes it is maneuvering,  The woman is the wife of CNO, John Richardson, and the sponsor of the PCU OREGON.  Dana Richardson is a native Oregonian.
I agree it should be a perk to make the trip out here and have no idea how those participating were selected.  I did find out that some of the crew go out on other boats in order to earn their dolphins.  That was a surprise to me as I thought after they discontinued allowing "middies" from earning silver dolphins while on summer cruises, you had to be a permanent member of the crew in order to qualify.  Am I wrong or has this changed?  Also I was told that these crewmen usually qualified in 3 months or less.  Wow, have times changed.  I thought I was doing good to qualify in about nine months.

I do like the kackie shirts the sailors are wearing, nice looking uniform. Also the photo of a woman sitting in from of a wood paneled board. Was that the maneuvering room? Confused

Good read.

Interesting that three of the sailors were not qualified.

Would think a trip like that would be a perk?

Did Blueback always have that wood panel? I haven't seen one of those before.

The CO, Boats Sponsor and crew members made their first Namesake tour of Oregon over Veterans' day weekend.  While they were here they spent time with both Blueback Base and Rogue-Umpqua Base members, taking part in Veterans' Day parades in Albany and Roseburg, visiting the veterans' home in Lebanon, meeting with NROTC at Oregon State University, touring the ex. USS BLUEBACK, climbing the mast from the USS OREGON (BB-3), meeting a group of Oregon politicians staff and capped off with a dinner hosted by the local Navy League.  A whirlwind tour for sure.  Next visit will be in the spring, hopefully around the Rose Festival week in June.
