Went to Holy Loch in 1961 as a dependent. Dad was NAV on the Proteus. Memory obviously a bit fuzzy but got a series of shots. |

I remember getting shots prior to patrol in the off crew office. I didn’t think it had anything in particular to do with Holy Loch just that the corpsman went through your shot card to see what overseas shots you were due for. Similar to anybody getting overseas shots for foreign travel.

My time was 71 to 78, and I distinctly remember the shots, because I was so FOND of getting them. Made you a little sick sometimes.

In the early seventies we had to get a shot each time before we left for Holy Loch. Was it a Diphtheria shot? I know it had to do with the open sewers into the Loch. I well remember the Corpsman being the one to give you your final check before departure to make sure we showed up for the shot.
