To all you career navy men. This is a serious question. I've been wondering at what point in your first enlistment did you decide to make a career of the navy. Was it a gradual decision or was it a spontaneous one bought about something that may have happened or said to you. Speaking to a 3rd class electrician who hailed from Philly, way back when, and served on Sirago with me, he told me he was gonna make a career of the navy, which he did and retired as a Lt.Cdr....when I asked him why he said because he liked the navy. I didn't think that was reason enough to stay for 20. Personally, I never had a thought about staying for 20...I was a one and done enlistee, served 4 years and out. Does anyone have some late in life thoughts as to why you decided to stay...
