from the FOX story:

What does it look like?

The Kazan is about 456 feet long and about 43 feet wide. This sub is a beast. On the surface, it displaces 8,600 tons. When it is submerged underwater, it displaces about 13,800 tons.

Speed

The sub can travel at speeds of up to about 31 knots and can reach depths of around 20,000 feet below the surface

I think the author has Verne's 20,000 Leagues on his/her brain. If other data is right, it is akin to a heavyweight Lafayette class boomer - far less beasty than one of our Ohio class boats.

If this is real, it has some major engineering breakthroughs involved. Like fitting five pounds of chicken crap in a three pound bag. Like taking the characteristics of pressure distribution of a sphere and attributing them to a cylinder. Like believing a fisherman when he tells you exactly where he caught and released a twenty-three pound Large Mouth Bass. I admit I am gullible, but even I have my limits.
Walt,
Had I done everything right throughout my life, the World wouldn't have noticed.
