There were certain places on the boats where stuff could be stashed. Not banned stuff, but other stuff. Like guitars, canned soda, candy and hobby projects. I know as one of the emergency welders and a boats diver I had access to lockers with extra room so to speak. The welding lockers were in the overhead of ERUL, so you had to consider the heat during drills, but it never got hot enough to bother canned soda. I know a guitar could fit in the diving locker. Now the space wasn't hogged, but was sort of allocated by seniority. What did you folks have set up?

One of the reasons I volunteered to be Weapons Dept Librarian. Had my little office space under lock and key. There were places to stow smaller items like Mixed Nuts, cans of grapefruit, etc.
