When a submarine is no longer useful or is outdated and too expensive to repair it is 'struck from the list' of Naval vessels and disposed of.  These days the disposal is called 'SRP' or the Submarine Recycling Program and it performed in Bremerton, Washington..  In the past, the submarine might be saved as a memorial or monument.  However, the vast majority were simply sold for scrap value and went to a company whose business was cutting up the vessel and selling the scrap.  These companies were generally called 'ship breakers' because in the days of wooden ships the old ships were pulled apart or broken.

Most boats (submarines) were taken on their last journey along side some tugs or at the end of a tow line.  One was different.  It was taken to the breakers as deck cargo on another warship which was being disposed of.  It is the only one which was given a ride to the breakers in this manner.  Which submarine was it?
