Handicapped folks suing all sorts of small scale establishments for failure to comply with the American's with disabilities acts. Several settle for cash. Is this a money making scheme, or is it really improving the disabled's access? Why aren't Code Enforcement Officers dealing with this. These establishments, for the most part, have City permits in place. Part of the permit is an on site inspection. Why weren't the establishments sited? Kind of makes you wonder. Several years ago, a ring of Lawyers were busted for seeking out disabled to file suit, and splitting settlements and fees with these folks. Wonder if this isn't just round two?

I knew a person that made his living doing this sort of crap.  He would claim his intent was to improve access, but sure had no problem enjoying the finacial rewards.

My panties are un-wadded. I didn't threaten him or remove the post, now did I? I was expressing my opinion (see, I get to do that too) that NOT EVERYTHING needs to be turned into a political joke/"statement".

Stan and Flapper made humorous comments in reference to my post, and that's cool. You got offended, and posted BOLDLY, so I must me the "PC Cops" or "Master at Arms wanting to write people up"... because I called Gary out on yet another attempt to turn a non-political post into something it isn't. I very much doubt Gary is as irritated with me as you seem to be, and if he were, he definitely doesn't need you to defend him. Get over yourself, Joe.

Congratulations. Three posts to get off topic. Is that a new record?
This discussion is near and dear to my heart as I use some handicapped facilities in my daily life. Have also known testers who went around - paid by attorneys - to test handicapped (ADA) compliance, mainly at small businesses. One jerk caused a small but successful restaurant to be shut down because they didn't have a proper restroom on site. The restaurant had an agreement with the next door, connected, business to share their compliant restroom. That wasn't good enough and caused the loss of several jobs.
Just one example.

I learned earlier not to report inappropriate posts to  Ron about people you don't even know. Was accused for persecuting some poster of moronic things.
The good news for the site, apparently,  is I have pretty much abandoned the site as I also have Ben unable to get correct answers when looking for help with my WWII submarine readings.
