Dropped the dogs off at the Groomer. On the way back, I passed Krispy Kreme. It is 21 degrees, so I figure a coffee and a raspberry doughnut sounds good. Plus the wife isn't along to dissuade me. Now I clearly remember complaining about 60 cents a doughnut not too long ago. I went into shock when I found out the one doughnut cost $1.17 with tax. When did this price increase take place? I bought the doughnut and an overpriced cup of coffee. I might have to give up black coffee so I get my moneys worth, as the cost of cream and sugar is surely figured into the price.

Did you ask for your military discount, Walt?  I know that the Krispy Kreme in Pigeon Forge offers a 10% military discount, so perhaps your Krispy Kreme does, as well.  The discount would have reduced your cost from $1.17 to a mere $1.05 per doughnut.  Not exactly a bargain, but on a frigid Georgia day well worth the price.

Love those raspberry filled doughnuts, BTW. Thumbs Up

No military discount I am aware of here. Probably too many retired Marines in the area. I know the Base has more civilians than Marines stationed there. Possibly why the retirees hang at Micky D's or Burger King. At least there is a senior coffee there.

In this area Krispy Kreme, Hardee's, Burger King, McDonalds and Long John Silver all offer military discounts.  The Texas Roadhouse doesn't offer a military discount, but they donate to Wounded Warriors.  Folks are that way around here.  The city park is named Patriot Park and they even have an old defunct missile (I think it could be a Patriot missile) set up there.  At any rate, the workers at these places don't usually ask if you want a discount.  They wait for you to ask them.  Which I always try to remember to do.  I figure, why not?  They offer it . . . and I'm "qualified" to ask for it.  Why, heck, it's a gustatory contract made in hog heaven.  And I'm the hog who is going to take advantage of it. Big smile

My advice is, ask every eating establishment you frequent if they offer a military discount.  It's not about getting free stuff, it's about recognition for your service. Thumbs Up
