I have long collected sayings. I heard one today about a guy trying to learn to do a job, but wouldn't listen to anyone about how to do it, just went about it by himself. The crew boss said "There are those that won't listen, and have to piss on the electric fence to learn what that is all about." I like that one.
Walt,
Had I done everything right throughout my life, the World wouldn't have noticed.

Well, I like the sentiment expressed.  Experience can sometimes be a painful, but effective, teacher.  What I don't like is being bitten by that effective, but painful, electric charge.  BTDT!  Not fun . . . Ouch

I tested my reflexes back when. An O'scope probe break while I was testing a circuit with 440V 36amps 60Hz. I counted no more than 4 burn holes on my finger and the same on my wrist. I spoke words I never thought I knew. Nobody admitted to trying to jury rig the probe rather than get a new one. Somebody performed CYA.

Hmm You were a Missile Tech, Tom... 440 volts, 60hz, Greasy-Spot level amperage... was it maybe the Hovering circuit in the BCP? That one tried to kill me once...
