They were still around in the early seventies, but left with the uniform change. Just like a set of gabardines with the zippers for precise fit.

I bought a couple of sets of Seafarer whites. Were they sharp. sold them to another Sirago snipe when I was being separated...Each set new cost $10.00. Those were the days of cheap whites and little pay. Clap Never did care for the liberty cuffs though.

I was in FT school in San Diego when I got orders to Sub school. Being very dumb I went downtown to lockerclub and had a set of Dolphin cuffs put on.  Had one qualified classmate in school who gave me about 60 seconds to remove them when I showed them to him...

I remember the 7 Seas very well.  Kept a locker there 1961 - 62 while on the Queenfish (SS-393).  The locker club was a necessity if you wanted to keep your civvies from smelling like eau de diesel.  It took at the very least a 30-minute shower to remove the odor of the 36/72 club from your person.  I can't remember what the monthly fee was, but it was quite reasonable, as I recall.

I always wanted some liberty cuffs and meant to get them but kept procrastinating and then other events intervened and I never got around to it.  But, I did master the craft of white hat shaping.  And of rolling my tie.

It has been my experience that folks who have no vices have very few virtues.~Abe Lincoln
