Speaking of the Engine Room Head. The one place where you could Poop, Shower and Shave all at the same space without having to move. There was a rig for newby associated with this head, usually used when in really cold North Atlantic water. The flush water valve outside the head was closed, the one on the commode was open. When a newby got settled in, the M2UL watch would slowly  open the flush water valve. Most of the engine room crew knew when that ice cold water reached critical level. At which point the watch shut off the flush water to avoid overflow. We did have a warped sense of humor in those days.
Had I done everything right throughout my life, the World wouldn't have noticed.

If it weren't for warped sense of humor, patrols just wouldn't have been as tolerable. Being a practical joker, I even got a letter from the CO entered into my Service Jacket about my help in lifting crew morale. No harm, no foul.
