Martin P. "Marty" Hanson passed away peacefully on the morning of May 7, 2017 in Geneva, IL.  He was born on February 4, 1937 to Phillip and Mary Hanson.

Marty proudly graduated from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.  He enjoyed a successful career as a nuclear engineer in the U.S. Navy and retired as a Captain.

Marty is survived by his wife, Sally Becker; two sons, Martin P. (Cathy) Hanson Jr. and Adam Gunnar (Teddie) Hanson; one sister, Karen J. Babbitt; and one brother, Warren "Gus" (Jan) Hanson.

Marty chose to donate his body to science.  Later on, his ashes will be aptly scattered at sea.

Memorials may be made to:  The Sugar Creek Opera c/o Helen Todd, 323 W. Mulberry St, Watseka, IL 60970.

Arrangements are being handled by the Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka.
