Michael William McArthur, 58, of Jefferson City passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Center in Jefferson City. He was born on July 16, 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri the son of Bill and Reva (Roush) McArthur, who preceded him in death. He was united in marriage on August 20, 1977 in Jefferson City to Linda Curry, who survives of the home.

He was a graduate of Jefferson City High School and attended college at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy from 1979-1987, serving abroad on fast attack submarines as a nuclear electrician. After leaving military service, he worked his way through the ranks in the State of Missouri and retired as the Head of Maintenance at Fulton State Hospital.

During Michael’s younger years, he enjoyed playing music. He was a member of his high school jazz band and was Drum Major during his junior and senior years. When he became a freshman at the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1975, he was a Drum Major for Marching Mizzou. Throughout his late teens and early twenties, he played many sets of country and western music, jazz, rock and other various selections. While he was stationed on the East Coast, he also was a member of a Dart League. Michael liked to read, watch NCIS, and enjoyed sharing his gift of the arts in photography. He had an eye for beauty and captured may breath-taking photographs for people to enjoy. Most of all, Michael loved his family and treasured the time he spent with them.

He is also survived by one son: Sean Michael McArthur of Jefferson City; one brother: Patrick (Linda) McArthur of California, Missouri; one sister: Pamela (Tom) Ford of Taos, New Mexico; one grandson: Calen McArthur and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mike Crausen officiating. Expressions of sympathy may be made to SSM Hospice.
