My Logitech mouse finally gave out.  Looking at the large selection at WalMart I picked a wireless Logitech for $9.84 versus their $31-24 offerings.  Working fine.  Could not find the small chip you plug into a USB port and was getting ready to take it back.  The chip was inside the mouse for storage!

There is more to the story and a good lesson.
The next day after buying the mouse, it quit working.  So I grabbed a corded mouse than I used on a notebook computer.  It didn't work either.  WTF?
I took both mice down to a dealer and they worked fine!
He said I had a bad USB port!
Plugged it in a port on the back and bingo, everything works well.
USB ports can go bad.  My Dell had two ports on the front, two on top and 4 in the back.  Two of the ones on the front had gone south.
I should have known because one day while charging my iPhone it quit charging.
Live and learn.
My original Logitech wireless mouse was probably good, but it is gone!

I had a problem with the USB port on the front of my computer. Same as you, it quit working. I took a can of that compressed air and blew it out. Full of dust. Now it works again. Unless there is a problem in the software somewhere, it may work for you.
