The story is BS or they have the wrong picture.  That's a November SSN (Type 1 Nuc) in the photo.  On 28-30 August 2003, K-159 was taken under tow to Potyarny.  The November sunk in the Barents Sea 200 meters down, with nine of her crew and most likely 800 kilograms of spent nuclear fuel.

Pretty sure that's not a German WWII sub there... thats the Russian K-159

No disrespect to Rontini intended.. but other "news" headlines on that site may be relevant:

"Bermuda Triangle: Ship[ reappears 90 years after going missing"

While looking into this, I used Google Images Reverse Search - say you have an image of a rusty old submarine, Google can tell you where that image comes from on the interwebs. Go to http://www.google.com, then click Images in the upper right corner. The search box (where you type your search terms) changes slightly - it now has a camera icon in it. Click that. You get a pop-up window where you can enter the URL of an image, or a second tab where you can upload an image from your system. Google will then try to match it on the web.

The article referenced above also had an image of two divers in icy water, which the caption prompts us to believe are USCG divers in Lake Ontario. Google tells me that it is actually a frame from a documentary, produced by Rolex (note the watches on the divers' wrists), concerning under-ice diving at the North Pole.

So, yeah. World News Daily Report; not quite as sophisticated as theonion.com (HIGHLY recommended, btw).  Closer to the National Enquirer.

You guys have a great weekend!

Darn, here I had thought I found out how all those Nazi SS guys got into the US. Although the documentary on TV says that is how they made it from Spain to Argentina. Hitler included.

The grenades are a real deal, while the story may be totally bogus.

The grenades are meant to be a "message" to a detected boat in an out-of-bounds area.  It also allows the skimmer to mark the location of a detected boat for all to hear - most definately including the boat.

If one of these grenades goes off in the boat's proximity I guarantee it will make you a believer in not being in the area of a full size depth-charge at any time!

The grenade will put the fear of God in you!

Does the term PDC (Practice Depth Charge) ring a bell. They were used off on San Diego on us back in the early 60's. Never saw one, but they were described as a hand grenade. Did some deck board damage to some boats.
