I used to go to the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in Monterey, California . . . . . . for lunch occasionally when I was doing my internship at the Silas B.Hayes Army Hospital on nearby Fort Ord.   The Navy officers seemed to get a kick out us gaggle of Army shrinks invading their space.  I was often "grilled" about my enlisted dolphins.  I must say, however, they did serve a very nice lunch.  Big smile Thumbs Up

In Virginia Beach while attending Missile school some of us would drive the few miles to Ft Story (US Army) and check out their Enlisted Club. Those grunts didn't appreciate the invasion by those of us wearing Dolphins much less any sailors. But being young and a tad horny there were more ladies available there. We solved many an issue by asking some Sgts over to share a few pitchers of beer.

At Bainbridge, Port Decrepit Maryland, while at NUKE power school we went over to Aberdeen Proving grounds and the NCO Club. Excellent food and drink at very reasonable prices. I knew several NCO's over there, and never had a hard time. One of the guys kept saying he was going to steal that small Italian Tank and take it back to Little Italy in NYC. We arrived one Saturday, and it wasn't there. We were a little concerned as the particular individual had gone home to NYC that weekend. When I asked my friends, they said it was in the shop being repainted. You never knew what a stressed out Nuke might do. We actually had one steal a horse from the riding stables on the base and try to ride into Port Deposit to meet a girl.

I went to NESEP Prep School at Bainbridge in the Summer of '65.  I don't remember Nuke School being there at that time or much about the rest of the base, actually, except the base library and the tennis courts.  But we lived off-base and I remember liking that area very much.  The wife and I really enjoyed cruising the countryside in our 1964 1/2 Mustang.  That was a pleasant summer.

Nuke school was present six months later.  I started in January '66.

I lived just outside the gate on Henley Parkway in Goverment Substandard housing.

Four-plex.  Three CB Chiefs and their families and this young 23 year old Ensign and a 22 yer old wife that looked 17.  Boy, did I get the Evil Eye from the Chiefs and their wives.  The good news was that we had an open invite to the Chief's Club which was great!
