On this date in 1982, the Argentinian submarine ARA SANTA FE (S-21) (ex USS CATFISH SS-339) puts a landing party of Buzos Tacticos (Argentine tactical divers) ashore at Yorke Bay, Port Stanley... these were the beach reconnaissance party for the main Argentinian invasion force about to land in the Falkland Islands.

Yes I rode the Catfish in 1961.  I was delaying my quals because a WestPac was scheduled.  But the XO called me in and told me I was restricted to the boat (in San Diego harbor) until I qualified.  I did not get to WestPac!  Instead, Dantini and I went to Mare Island Nuke school together and then to prototype in Idaho.
