I have a book that lists all boats:
PLEASE ONLY ASK FOR WHAT YOU NEED AND NOT ALL OF THE
FOLLOWING INFO.  MOST ARE INTERESTED IN FINAL DISPOSITION
AND DATE. i CAN'T SUPPLY EVERYONE WITH EVERYTHING.  SOME
HAVE PICTURES OF THEIR BOATS AND MAYBE NEED TO ADD SOME INFO.
SOME OF THIS INFO CAN BE FOUND WITH A GOOGLE SEARCH ALSO.

What about me? I never served on a submarine, just an old tincan!

I got just the book for an old Tin Can sailor like yourself Dan. A terrific book about tin cans during WWll and a major battle they fought in against over whelming odds against larger Jap ships. It's called:
The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors, by James D Hornfischer
An outstanding read.

Hi DAn:  Good hearting from you.
You may not be a Sub guy but you have more of a connection to them than many of the guys who hang out here.
I would guess 50% do NOT know your history and connection.

Oh I think the Gold Star kinda gives it away. To those who may not know me, my son MM2 Joseph Ashley lost his life on the USS San Francisco SSN 711 back in 2005. The crew here on Rontini's BBS has had the highest of support that got me through the ordeal. I will never forget.

We long-timers here lived through the tragedy with you, Dan. What are shipmates for, if not support in troubling times?
