Several companies have attempted to create a new USSVI Web site using the current data.  That has failed.  USSVI now has several submariners working the problem and not software firms.  We are keeping our fingers crossed.  It was hoped that Feb. 1 would be the new start date but that is questionable.
The problem came about because the 2nd USSVI Web site was written in Database format and it was very specific.  That person passed and knowledge went with him.  It became impossible to change or modify the system.

Since my post last December in which I stated maybe Feb 1 of 2019d would be startup, guess what?
It still is not ready with no one saying when or even guessing.  So the thousands of dollars spent (60-70k) is now just a memory.  This written August of 2019.

I started the USSVI first Web site.  At that time it had links, information, memorial locations (thanks to Sid Harrison) but was NOT tied in with members records.  That could only be done via email to NatOffice in Silverdale.
I liked the old Web site.  However it became a little convoluted and very hard to change.  Base member records became confused and in error.  The only gentleman who knew how to fix had passed and his family did not have his knowledge to correct or change.
All my Base member records are in the old system and I am the only one in my Base who knows how to change something, i.e. (phones, emails, addresses, etc.)  I also do this for another Base.  The other 4 Bases in my District are managing.
Come the day for changeover, all records will be transported over as they are that day.  Then begins the process of learning the new system which I guarantee will not look as good as the old.
I would love to be in Austin right now (Convention starts today) and be on the Nat.Cmdr's coat tails to find out what or when things are anticipated.  The guy I really feel sorry for is Fred at the National Office when this all takes place.
