Carl John Kolek, age 55, of Alpharetta, Georgia, died on September 23, 2021 of leukemia complications.

A 1988 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Carl served as a Submarine Warfare Officer on the nuclear submarine USS Bluefish. Civilian life as an engineer took Carl to Old Dominion University and then to metro Atlanta in 2003. From his childhood in Boca Raton and time in the Navy, Carl had a deep love for the beach and ocean. Carl’s favorite activity was to spend time with his son John with whom he shared many interests and adventures.

Carl is survived by his son John, his sister Karyn Elisabeth Beuscher (Dan), brothers Eugene Andrew Kolek and George Thomas Kolek, and nieces Giselle Beuscher and Olivia Beuscher. Carl was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at Carl’s church of many years, the First Baptist Church of Atlanta, on Monday October 4 at 2:00 pm. A burial will follow in Boca Raton, Florida.

Address to FBA is 4400 North Peachtree Road, Atlanta, GA 30338 in the Chapel. Flowers can be delivered to FBA and they will be delivered to the chapel.
