RIP Jack

STAWICKI, John E., 74, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 9, 2019. Jack was born on August 11, 1944 in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Stanley and Edna Stawicki of Chesapeake City, Maryland. He is survived by his sons Matthew (Cathy) and Sean (Leah), three grandchildren, Kevin Wilkins, Blakely and Brexton Stawicki. He is also survived by his brother Stanley Stawickey and his wife Mary, of Fort Myers, Florida and his sister Joyce McHenry and her husband Calvin of Leesburg, Florida. Jack is also survived by his honorary son, Jeff Douglas (Vicki). After graduating from Bohemia Manor High School, Jack served in the United States Navy Submarine Force. Jack then began his career as a police officer for the Wilmington Police Department and later retired from the DuPont Experimental Station. Jack was a member of the Mid-Atlantic Subvet's Base and was inducted into the Holland Club Subvets Organization. Jack was an experienced and avid sailor and, in his retirement, loved sailing the waters off the Eastern Shore, the Caribbean and Florida's Gulf Coast. Jack was a free-spirited man, who loved driving his vintage Corvette and listening to Jimmy Buffet. He was truly "Changes in Latitude, Changes in Attitudes" kind of spirit and will be dearly missed by all. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jack's name are suggested to Faithful Friends Animal Society, 12 Germay Drive, Wilmington, DE 19804.
